
Sixth-ranked Winterset held off the Boone softball team Monday, July 6, for a 5-4 victory in a Raccoon River Conference softball game at Gary Creasman Field.
The contest marked Boone’s final home game, regular-season game and conference game of the season.
The Toreadors received a strong offensive effort from Hailee Bingham, who went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and at least 1 RBI.
Brooke Weisbrod also collected two hits and an RBI, while Harper Kuehl added one hit and one RBI.
Abigail Leu and Hadley Gustafson each scored a run for Boone.
Weisbrod handled the pitching duties for the Toreadors, working a complete game in the circle and striking out two batters.
Winterset improved to 21-12 overall and 11-5 in the Raccoon River Conference, while Boone fell to 14-15 overall and 4-12 in league play.
The Toreadors will now turn their attention to postseason play.
Boone opens Class 4A Region 6 tournament action on Thursday, July 9, when it hosts Carroll (4-26) in a regional quarterfinal at Gary Creasman Field.
