
The Ogden baseball team opened postseason play by defeating South Hamilton, 2-1, in a tightly contested matchup Friday, July 3, at Ogden High School.
After South Hamilton grabbed a 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the second inning, the Bulldogs answered in the bottom of the third.
Ogden pushed across two runs in the inning and made the advantage stand up the rest of the game.
Ogden collected five hits in the victory.
Christian Thede led the offense with two hits, while Keagan Ristvedt added a hit and drove in a run.
Colson Carson and Ryder Hamil each contributed one hit, with Hamil also scoring a run.
Riley Saunders crossed the plate for Ogden’s other run.
Carson turned in a complete-game performance.
The Bulldog struck out nine batters while allowing just one run, helping Ogden secure the win.
The victory moves Ogden to 13-17 on the season.
South Hamilton finishes its campaign at 1-20.
Ogden will face Interstate 35 (23-9) in a Class 2A Substate 2 contest on Tuesday, July 7, at Norsemen Field in Story City.
