The Ogden baseball team outlasted the Madrid Tigers, 9-3, in an 11-inning West Central Conference showdown Tuesday, June 24, in Madrid.
The extra-inning game featured a six-run explosion in the top of the 11th that sealed the win for Ogden.
The Bulldogs struck first with a run in the fourth and added another in the sixth, but Madrid answered with runs in the sixth, seventh, to keep the game tied, 2-2, heading into extra innings.
Ogden regained the lead with 1 run in the eighth, only for Madrid to respond again with 1 run in the bottom half to keep the game tied at 3-3.
The deadlock held until the 11th, when Ogden’s bats came alive.
Tanner Rohe led the Bulldogs with three hits, two RBIs, a run scored and three stolen bases.
He also earned the win in relief.
Keagan Ristvedt added three hits, two runs, and an RBI, while Colson Carlson, Thomas Bergstrom each contributed key RBIs in the late innings.
Carlson started the game for Ogden and was dominant, striking out nine over several strong innings before handing the ball to Rohe.
For the Tigers, Easton Halverson had a hit and two stolen bases, while McCoy Cooley and Mason Morman each added a hit and a run.
Kole Deppe drove in a run and took the loss in relief, while Emerson Bridgewater struck out eight in a strong start.
With the win, Ogden improves to 9-13 overall and 6-9 in the conference, while Madrid drops to 5-12 overall and 3-11 in conference play.
Up next, Ogden hosts Twin Cedars (8-9) in non-conference action tonight at 5 p.m.
Madrid travels to Truro on Thursday, June 26 for a conference doubleheader against Interstate 35.
