
The Ogden baseball team rallied late Tuesday, June 23, scoring twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to edge Madrid, 3–2, in a West Central Activities Conference baseball game at Ogden High School.
Madrid struck first, scoring two runs in the top of the fourth inning to take an early lead.
Ogden responded with a run of its own in the bottom of the fourth to cut the deficit in half before completing the comeback in its final at-bat.
The Bulldogs pushed across two runs in the seventh to secure the victory.
For Ogden, Colson Carson collected three hits, including a double, while scoring a run and driving in another.
Treyton Mitchell contributed two hits and an RBI, and Christian Thede added two hits and drove in a run of his own.
Hunter Mitchels and Thomas Bergstrom each recorded a hit, while Keagan Ristvedt scored a run as Ogden completed the rally.
Carson also struck out eight batters in a complete-game effort to earn the win.
For Madrid, Kolbie Owens finished with two hits, including a double, and scored a run.
Brady Springer also scored, while Kole Deppe drove in a run and Liam Tjernagel added a hit.
Madrid starter Emerson Bridgewater took the loss, striking out seven in a complete-game outing.
With the win, Ogden improves to 11–12 overall and 8–9 in conference play, while Madrid falls to 8–12 overall and 6–9 in the conference.
Ogden continues conference action Thursday, June 25, hosting Des Moines Christian (15–6, 12–2) for a doubleheader.
Madrid will also be at home Thursday, welcoming Interstate 35 (19–8, 10–5) for a conference doubleheader.
