Ogden boys win Madrid Invitational

The Ogden Bulldogs cross country teams turned in strong performances at the Madrid Tigers Invitational, held at Grant’s Woods Park under cool and breezy conditions Thursday, September 4.

The Ogden Bulldogs cross country teams turned in strong performances at the Madrid Tigers Invitational, held at Grant’s Woods Park under cool and breezy conditions Thursday, September 4. 

The boys team claimed first place with a score of 48 points, while the girls team did not have enough runners for a team score,  

For the boys, Myles Tromblay took 1st place overall with a time of 17:23, earning a medal. 

Landon Abbott followed in 2nd place with a personal best of 17:52. 

Thomas Bergstrom was right behind in 3rd place (17:53), giving Ogden a top-three sweep. 

Bek Anderson placed 15th (19:23 PR), while Palmer Hickingbottom and Henry Russo finished 28th (20:55) and 29th (20:57 PR) respectively. 

For the girls, Elyse Fisher led the Ogden girls with a 13th-place finish in 22:18, setting a personal record. 

McKenzie Spencer placed 31st in 25:56, a season best. 

Alauna Wells and Brylie Hicks finished back-to-back in 43rd (30:28 PR) and 44th (30:55 SB) respectively. 

Ogden will look to carry this momentum into their next meet on Thursday, September 11, at the Iowa State University Cross Country Course, where they’ll face a large and competitive field hosted by Gilbert.
