
Led by four individual conference champions, the Ogden girls’ wrestling team turned in a strong performance at the West Central Activities Conference Tournament on Saturday, January 17, taking second place with a team total of 101 points.
Woodward-Granger claimed the team title with 126.5 points.
Rylin Casey at 100 finished in first place.
Casey pinned Pleasantville’s Gabby Claver twice, winning by falls in 27 seconds and 1:16.
Trinity Stoneburner at 110 also placed first.
Stoneburner pinned West Central Valley’s Lorelei Grinnell in both rounds with her falls came in 3:20 and 2:38.
Grace Hammer at 190 finished in first place.
Hammer pinned West Central Valley’s Elyzah Olson twice, winning in 57 seconds and 26 seconds to earn her conference title.
Ruby Tasler at 235 also placed first.
Tasler had back-to-back pins of Woodward-Granger’s Mya Browne, earning falls in 1:32 and 3:05.
Carlie Hinderaker at 115 battled her way to the finals with two pins — 55 seconds in the quarterfinal and 28 seconds in the semifinal.
She fell in the championship match to Pleasantville’s Josie Howrey, and finished in second place.
Jozlyn Wells at 130 recovered from a first-round loss to earn a pin in Round 2 and collect a medical forfeit win in Round 3, finishing second.
Ogden had multiple place-winners across the middle weights:
Tori Alexander at 120 overcame two early losses to finish strong, pinning Panorama’s Ella Carico in 2:29 to secure third place.
After a bye and a semifinal loss, Sophie Seligman at 125 regrouped with back-to-back pins — topped off by a fall over Earlham’s Zoe Nixt to also finish third.
Alauna Wells at 135 bounced back from tough losses to open the day by pinning Panorama’s Abbey Waltz in just 29 seconds in Round 3 to finish in third place.
Kinley Hare at 140 Hare opened with a quarterfinal pin and later placed fourth.
