Ogden girls place 6th at Perry

The Ogden girls’ wrestling team scored 78 points and placed 6th Friday, January 17, at Perry.

The Ogden girls’ wrestling team scored 78 points and placed 6th Friday, January 17, at Perry. 

Dallas Center-Grimes won the tournament with 202.5 points. 

Rylin Casey and Sydney King placed 2nd. 

Casey placed 2nd at 100 pounds. 

She won by technical fall, 18-3, to Piper Madren of Grinnell before losing by technical fall, 19-2, to Georgia Edwards of DC-G. 

Casey then won by major decision over Harper Peterson of Perry, 18-9, and won by decision to Ella Carico of Panorama, 3-0. 

King placed 2nd at 115 pounds. 

She pinned Bryanna Pena-Rivera of West Central Valley in :42 before pinning Josephine Bond of DC-G in 1:07. 

In the championship match, King was pinned by Cate Erickson ff Perry in 3:17. 

Grace Hammer placed 3rd at 190 pounds, 

She was pinned by Josie Bishop of Southeast Polk in 2:33 before pinning Elyzah Olson of West Central Valley in :16 and pinning Jahzarah Ward of Grinnell in :23. 

Hammer then was pinned by Halley Beaudet of DC-G in :59 before pinning Gracen Plagge of Denison-Schleswig in :32. 

Sophie Seligman and Hannah Wells placed 4th for the Bulldogs. 

Seligman was pinned by Ayden Erickson of Perry in 1:17 before beating Callegh Staker of North Tama by technical fall, 17-2. 

Seligman then pinned Mariel Becicka of Urbandale in 2:56 and was pinned by Sadie Smith of Carroll Kuemper Catholic in 1:08 and was pinned by Addyson Bowers of DC-G in 1:02. 

Wells was pinned by Addison Hochstetler of North Tama in 3:24 and also was pinned by Allie Van Der Molen of DC-G in 1:13. 

Then she pinned Myla Kurk of Grinnell in :59 and also pinned Giana Garcia of Denison-Schleswig in 1:21 before losing by decision to Cara Schuette of Carroll Kuemper Catholic, 8-6.

Teams at the tournament were DC-G, Perry, Southeast Polk, North Tama, West Central Valley, Ogden, Grinnell, Denison-Schleswig, Panorama, Carroll Kuemper Catholic and Urbandale

Ogden travels to face Albia, Martensdale-St. Mary’s and Colfax Mingo at 6 p.m. tonight at Colfax.
