Officers did handle a scam report but reported that training of personnel at a local bank assisted in preventing the scam of succeeding.

Drug & Substance Offenses
- Feb. 27, 12:17 PM — 200 block SW 6th St.: Officer responded to a report of drug paraphernalia found at the location. No suspects listed.
Other Criminal Offenses
- Feb. 27, 2:17 PM — 200 block SW 6th St.: Report of criminal mischief after a vehicle drove through a backyard and damaged the grass. Tire tracks led to a nearby apartment complex. The landlord was notified.
Public Safety Threats
- Feb. 27, 3:38 PM — 400 block NE 2nd St.: Resident reported a scam call claiming they had a federal warrant for failing to appear for jury duty. Caller demanded $15,000 to avoid arrest and sent fake “Department of Justice” documents. A local bank recognized the scam and advised the resident to stop communication and void the check.

A significant scam attempt was reported, with quick action by a local bank preventing financial loss. No arrests were recorded during this reporting period.
