The Ogden softball team capped off its West Central Conference schedule with a thrilling 7–5 comeback win over Des Moines Christian on the road Monday, July 7.
The Bulldogs used a five-run seventh inning to surge past the Lions.
Ogden opened the scoring with a run in the first and another in the third but trailed 5–2 heading into the final inning.
That’s when the Bulldogs’ scored five runs and flipped the game in their favor.
Breaunna Wenger led the charge with 2 hits, including a double, 2 RBIs, a run scored, and a stolen base.
Aubrey Leonard scored twice, while Harleigh Hanssen, Carmyn Askelsen, Lauren Mathews, and Clara Kruse each delivered key hits and RBIs in the comeback.
In the circle, Katie Wilcoxson went the distance, striking out 3.
With the victory, Ogden improves to 21–11 overall and finishes 11–8 in the West Central Conference, tying Des Moines Christian (14–12) in the final league standings.
Ogden now turns its attention to the postseason, traveling to Belmond-Klemme on Wednesday, July 9 at 7 p.m. for a Class 2A Region 4 tournament matchup.
