The Ogden softball team continued West Central Conference play with a 7-1 road win over Madrid Tuesday, June 24, in Madrid.
Ogden wasted no time getting on the board, scoring two runs in the second inning, followed by four more in the third and another in the fourth to build a commanding 7-0 lead.
Aubrey Leonard led the offensive charge with a three-hit night, including a triple, two runs scored, and four stolen bases.
Clara Kruse added two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.
Harleigh Janssen, Adi Banks, and Lauren Mathews each contributed RBIs, while Camryn Askelsen scored twice.
Katie Wilcoxson struck out seven in a complete game effort, keeping Madrid’s offense in check for most of the night.
Madrid broke through with a run in the fifth.
Rylee Borcherding had two hits, including a double.
Mayzie Surratt added an RBI single and pitched a complete game with three strikeouts.
Ashlyn Burkhart, Samantha Springer, and Savannah Bradley each added a hit for the Tigers.
Ogden improves to 11-11 overall and 7-8 in the conference while Madrid falls to 6-16 overall and 2-12 in conference play.
Ogden now turns its attention to a home doubleheader this afternoon against Woodward-Granger (14-7 overall, 8-5 conference).
Madrid will look to bounce back on the road tonight in a non-conference matchup at South Hardin (2-16 overall), with first pitch set for 7 p.m.
