Ogden softball wins 2 at home tourney

The Ogden softball team earned two wins at its home tournament Saturday, May 31, to improve to 4–2 on the season.

The Ogden softball team earned two wins at its home tournament Saturday, May 31, to improve to 4–2 on the season.  

Ogden defeated Greene County, 11–2, in 5 innings and followed up with a 7–3 win over Algona. 

Game 1: Ogden 11, Greene County 2 (5 innings) 

Ogden came out swinging in the opener, scoring four runs in the first inning and sealing the game with a 7-run explosion in the fifth. 

Aubrey Leonard collected three hits, including a triple, scored twice, and stole five bases. 

Breaunna Wenger added two hits, two runs, and two RBIs. 

Camryn Askelsen chipped in with two hits, while Lauren Mathews drove in two runs. 

Clara Kruse pitched a complete game, allowing just two runs and striking out one. 

Game 2: Ogden 7, Algona 3 

In the second game, Ogden used a steady offensive attack and a strong outing from Katie Wilcoxson to secure the win. 

Ogden scored two in the second, three in the fifth, and two more in the sixth to stay ahead throughout the game. 

Sophie Seligman had two hits, scored twice, drove in a run, and had one stolen base. 

Adi Banks had two hits, a run scored, and three RBIs. 

Wilcoxson went the distance in the circle, striking out six and keeping Algona’s offense in check. 

Ogden (4–2) returns to action tonight, hosting Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center.
