The Ogden volleyball team put together an impressive week, rallying past Madrid in a road triangular on Tuesday, September 8, before going undefeated and winning the Perry Tournament on Thursday, September 10.
Ogden 3, Madrid 1
The Bulldogs opened the week with a 3-1 victory over Madrid at a triangular at Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center.
After dropping the opening set 25-18, Ogden responded by winning the next three sets 25-19, 25-22 and 25-19.
Ella Anderson directed the offense with 31 assists while also contributing 10 kills.
Olivia Coleman led the attack with 14 kills and added 13 digs.
Grace Christensen paced the defense with 13 digs.
At the net, Sydney Craighton and Sidney Crane each finished with two blocks.
Macy Bristle sparked the Bulldogs from the service line with six aces while finishing 24-of-25 serving.
Paysen Graden was a perfect 13-for-13 serving with one ace.
Stats for Madrid were not available as of early Friday afternoon, and a match summary for Madrid will follow once stats are made available.
Perry Tournament
Ogden carried that momentum into Thursday’s Perry Tournament, where the Bulldogs posted a perfect 4-0 record to claim the championship.
Ogden 2, Perry 0
In the opening match, Ogden defeated Perry in straight sets behind eight assists and five kills from Anderson.
Crane added two blocks, Christensen recorded six digs, and Graden served 11-for-11 with four aces.
Coleman was 11-for-11 serving with two aces, while Bristle added an ace and served 7-for-7.
The Bulldogs served at a 93 percent rate as a team.
Ogden 2, Earlham 0
Ogden followed with another two-set victory over Earlham.
Anderson finished with 12 assists and eight digs, while Coleman led the offense with seven kills and added two blocks.
Christensen and Bristle each recorded two aces, and the Bulldogs were flawless from the service line, serving 100 percent as a team.
Ogden 2, Nodaway Valley 0
The Bulldogs continued their strong play with a win over Nodaway Valley.
Anderson distributed 21 assists, Craighton led the team with six kills and two blocks, and Melania Sesker collected eight digs.
Christensen recorded three aces, Coleman added two, and Ogden once again fueled its victory with strong serving, finishing at 93 percent as a team.
Ogden 2, Des Moines East 0
Ogden closed out the tournament championship with a straight-set victory over Des Moines East.
Anderson totaled 15 assists and matched Coleman for the team lead with seven digs.
Sidney Crane recorded five kills, Kenzie Banks added two blocks, and Sesker led the team with two aces.
Anderson was perfect on 13 service attempts, while Bristle went 5-for-5 with an ace as the Bulldogs served at a 91 percent clip.
With the tournament title, Ogden improved to 7-3 on the season.
The Bulldogs return to action Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Woodward-Granger Tournament in Woodward.
