The Ogden volleyball team earned a pair of victories before falling in a hard-fought three-set match Monday, September 14, at a quad hosted at Ogden High School.
The Bulldogs defeated Collins-Maxwell and Madrid in straight sets before closing the night with a 2-1 loss to Pleasantville.
Match 1: Ogden 2, Collins-Maxwell 0
Ogden opened the night with a sweep of Collins-Maxwell.
Ella Anderson had 13 assists, while Macy Bristle led the Bulldogs with seven kills.
Olivia Coleman, Emmalyn Strouse, Kenzie Banks, Anderson and Melana Sesker each recorded a dig.
Grace Christensen led the way with five serve aces, Coleman added four aces and Bristle contributed three.
Anderson added an ace while going a perfect 11-for-11 serving, and Sesker was 2-for-2 with an ace.
As a team, Ogden served at a 90 percent rate.
Match 2: Ogden 2, Madrid 0
The Bulldogs followed with another straight-set victory, this time over Madrid.
Anderson recorded 10 assists.
Coleman paced the attack with seven kills, while Sydney Craighton and Sidney Crane added four kills each.
Craighton finished with five blocks to lead the Bulldogs defensively.
Anderson contributed a team-high 12 digs, while Sesker added nine digs.
Sesker led the serving attack with two aces, and Coleman added one ace.
Christensen, Anderson, Paysen Graden and Bristle all served 100 percent as Ogden posted a 92 percent team serving mark.
Match 3: Pleasantville 2, Ogden 1
The Bulldogs nearly completed an unbeaten evening before Pleasantville rallied for a three-set victory.
Anderson led Ogden with five kills and added seven assists.
The Bulldogs were strong at the net, where Craighton and Crane each recorded three blocks.
Sesker paced the defense with eight digs, while Anderson and Coleman added seven digs apiece.
Bristle and Sesker each recorded three ace serves.
Ogden improved to 12-6 overall and will return to West Central Activities Conference play tonight when it travels to Panorama.
The Panthers enter the match with a 3-3 overall record and a 3-2 mark in conference competition.
