The Ogden Bulldogs volleyball team had a strong showing Monday, September 15, at the Madrid Quad, going 2-1 in three competitive matches and celebrating a major milestone for senior Aubrey Leonard, who surpassed 1,000 career digs.
Match 1: Pleasantville 2, Ogden 1
Ogden opened the night with a hard-fought three-set match against Pleasantville, ultimately falling, 2-1.
Ella Anderson led the offense with 8 assists and went 12-for-12 serving, including 2 aces.
Sidney Crane had 4 kills, while Olivia Coleman and Sydney Craighton each added 3 kills.
Craighton also contributed 2 blocks at the net.
Aubrey Leonard anchored the defense with 7 digs.
The team served at an impressive 96% clip, going 50-for-52.
Match 2: Ogden 2, Madrid 0
Ogden bounced back in their second match, sweeping host Madrid in straight sets.
Anderson had 4 assists while Lauren Mathews had 3.
Macy Bristle led the attack with 5 kills, and Coleman added 3 kills.
Leonard had 6 digs, and Craighton added 2 aces.
The Bulldogs served 95%, with 38-of-40 serves in play
Coleman was perfect, going 8-for-8 at the service line.
Match 3: Ogden 2, Collins-Maxwell 0
Ogden closed the night with another sweep, this time over Collins-Maxwell.
Miranda Cook dished out 3 assists, Coleman led with 4 kills, and Bristle added 3 kills.
Leonard was a defensive standout with 11 digs.
Cook and Craighton each served 3 aces, and the team again hit 95% serving, going 39-for-41.
Leonard was perfect going 8-for-8 serving.
With the 2-1 performance, Ogden improves to 7-4 on the season and travels to Earlham tonight for a West Central Activities Conference game.
