One COVID-19 death, 12 cases this weekend in Boone County

On Sunday, the Iowa Department of Public Health identified 881 new cases of COVID-19, a slight decrease from the 901 positive coronavirus tests reported twenty-four hours earlier.  Iowa has now had over 80,000 cases of COVID-19 and 1,265 Iowans have died from coronavirus:  six on Saturday, including someone from Boone County, and one in Sunday’s update.  Since 4:00 on Friday afternoon in central Iowa, 169 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Polk County for a total of 15,273; 37 this weekend in Story for 3,280; 30 in Dallas for 2,680; 5 in Webster for 1,189 there; two in Greene for 84; one in Hamilton for 314; and a dozen in Boone County for 466 overall.  Statewide, there are 269 patients currently hospitalized for coronavirus, down 13 from Saturday and greater than 57,500 Iowans have recovered, 315 in Boone County alone.  For the one in four Iowans who have been tested for COVID-19, the infection rate has increased two-tenths of a percent to 10.8.
