Around 4:50 Saturday afternoon, Boone police officers responded to a family situation at 620 Second Street. According to Boone Police Chief John Wiebold, a male encountered officers upon their arrival and they ended up fatally shooting him. Personnel from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department and Boone Fire Department were also on the scene, but no one else was reported as injured. The name of the victim has not yet been released. The Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation is looking into the incident and more information will be released by authorities on Monday.
