Kris Blocker, Executive Director of Visit Boone County. Blocker has a busy schedule over the next several weeks. This week, she talks about Night on the Green, Friday night. Beginning this weekend, the Pyrotechnics Guild International Convention will be held at Central Iowa Expo. That’s followed by the Iowa State Fair and the Visit Boone County Booth in the Varied Industry Building. By the end of the month, Blocker will take in the Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Illinois, then back for the Iowa Fire Fighters Annual Convention at the Central Iowa Expo and Super Nationals. Aired Thursday, July 31, 2025.

Ondrea Elmquist, Boone City Administrator, talks about the heavy rains and some of the street flooding issues being dealt with. She also talked about the impact the storm water has on the City’s Waste Water Treatment Plant. Elmquist also talked about Waster Water and Water Treatment Plant projects that are still moving forward, noting that many were planned before Daisy selected to locate in Boone. More work is beginning on the expansion projects for both water and waste water for Daisy. Aired on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

The elementary school roofing project is moving ahead and buildings and grounds are being prepared for school start up in less than a month. He did talk about the School Board’s decision to move ahead and put the Revenue Purpose Statement on the ballot in November and also voter approval will be sought to extend the district Physical Plant and Equipment Levy, already in place, for another 10-year period.
