
Paul (Pete) McIntyre, 74, Boone, Iowa
BOONE, Iowa—Paul “Pete” McIntyre, 74, of Boone, passed away peacefully Friday, March 6, 2026, while surrounded by his family at home. Following Pete’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
Pete was born November 19, 1951, in Boone, the son of Les and Barbara (Stark) McIntyre. He attended school in Boone and graduated with the class of 1970. While in high school, Pete participated and excelled in football, wrestling and track. He was a member of the 1968 undefeated football team from Boone High. In his junior year, Pete set a record of rushing for 340 yards in only three quarters, and the record still stands today. He went onto attend the University of Nebraska on a wrestling scholarship. After getting injured at Nebraska, he transferred to UNI and graduated with a degree in K-12 teaching and coaching.
He married Connie Martin in 1972, and to this union four children were born. They later divorced.
Pete met Cristy Boyd in 2000, and they were united in marriage on October 12, 2002, at Don Williams Recreation Area.
After 38 years, Pete retired as an Administrative Law Judge for the state of Iowa. His family was the most important thing to Pete. He did enjoy hunting, fishing, watching westerns, his annual fishing trips to Canada and the movie “Secondhand Lions”.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Mike McIntyre and Tim McIntyre.
Pete is survived by his wife of 23 years, Cristy McIntyre; children, Michelle (Danon) Daleske, Jeremy (Christina) McIntyre, Joy McIntyre-Davis, Marty (Megan) McIntyre, Dan (Christy) Boyd, Tyler (Laura) Boyd, Theresa (Travis) Angle; 20 grandchildren plus a grandson arriving this summer; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Juli (George) Murray.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cornerstone Alliance Church, 111 6th Street, Boone, IA 50036. A memorial service will follow on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the church. The service will be livestreamed by the church and can be viewed on their YouTube page, @BooneCornerstone. Immediately following the memorial service, a luncheon will be held at the church.
For those attending the visitation on Tuesday, feel free to wear your favorite Hawaiian Shirt or Camouflage attire, in memory of Pete.
