The Madrid baseball team fell to Perry, 1–0, in a non-conference matchup Thursday, June 18, at Madrid High School.
Perry scored the only run of the game in the top of the fifth inning.
McCoy Cooley struck out six batters for Madrid but was tagged with the loss.
Madrid managed to tally several hits but didn’t score a run.
Levi Kockler collected two hits and added a stolen base.
Cooley, Conner Pettiecord, Eli Petersen and Emerson Bridgewater each recorded one hit.
With the loss, Madrid moves to 8-8 overall and 6-5 in conference play while Perry improves to 7-11 overall.
Madrid is slated to travel to Van Meter for a West Central Activities Conference doubleheader tonight.
Van Meter enters the matchup with a 10-7 overall record and a 9-3 mark in conference play.
