Philip Morris

KWBG 03/20/23

BOONE, Iowa—Philip Lee Morris was born April 3, 1933 in Boone, Iowa. He was the sixth of twelve children born to George and Thelma Morris and the youngest of their first set of twins. He is survived by his twin brother, Paul, and four of his younger siblings, JoAnn, Helen, Gale and Marilyn.

At 3 years old, he lost an eye to a nasty tree accident. In spite of his handicap, he was a fierce competitor. He enjoyed sports, singing, woodworking, fixing things, and dirty dominoes.

On August 24, 1957 he married the love of his life, Betty Jean Miller. They made their home in Sheldahl, Iowa and raised three children: Gary and Sondra Morris of Molalla, Oregon; Mary and Bob Underwood of Waukomis, Oklahoma; and Rob and Marie Morris of Bremerton, Washington. They have 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

He passed away at home on Friday, March 17, 2023 after a 6-month battle with cancer.

Funeral Services will be held at the Madrid Evangelical Free Church on Saturday, 25, 2023 at 10:30 A.M., where he has been a member, song leader and Sunday School teacher for many years. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 24 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Burial will be in Boone Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Israel Family Hospice House, Madrid Evangelical Free Church, or Iowa PBS.

Online condolences may be left at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com.

Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets is in charge of arrangements.
