BOONE, Iowa—Phyllis Schultz, 86, of Boone, passed away Monday, February 24, 2025, at her home, with her family by her side.

Phyllis was born December 16, 1938, in Indianapolis, IN, the daughter of Henry and Irvena (Knoop) Goger. She grew up and attended school in Indianapolis, where she graduated from Washington High School.

Phyllis attended Manhattan College in Manhattan, KS, where she met a young man, Robert Schultz. They were united in marriage on August 16, 1958, in Indianapolis. Robert was a Christian and Methodist minister, so they made their home through out all of Iowa, moving about every two years.

Phyllis received her LPN Degree from Northeast Iowa Community College in Calmar, IA. She worked for 30 years at the Boone County Hospital. Phyllis enjoyed crocheting, cross stitch, her ladies’ groups at church, and attending her children’s, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s numerous activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Matthew Schultz; two sisters and one brother.

Phyllis is survived by her seven children, Cheryl Ann Williams of Boone, Dean Schultz of Boone, Kay (William) Hammer of Boone, Robert (Carla) Schultz of Polk City, Andrew Schultz of Newton, Jim Schultz of Newell, and Jennifer Beamon of Lincoln, NE; 21 grandchildren, Christine, Becky, David, Shaun, Stephanie, Rachael, Brandon, Caleb, Taylor, Ashley, Emily, Nic, Maddy, Zack, Shelby, Aaron, Kendra, Tylene, Ellie, Willie and Makada; and 45 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 14, 2025, at the First United Methodist Church, 703 Arden Street, Boone, with the Rev. Adam Gordon officiating. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the church.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Phyllis’ family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com
