As the weather continues to improve and people continue to get out I thought it might be a great idea to review some of the more common poisonous weeds here in Iowa to help avoid accidentally ruining your weekend.
First up is Wild Parsnip. Flowering from May to July, the non-native wild Parsnip plant has lacy, yellow-green heads. If its oil touches the skin and then is exposed to sunlight, painful blisters will develop. It doesn’t matter if the plant is flowering or not – avoid contact with it at all times. If contact should occur flush the area with water as soon as possible after exposure.
