KWBG 10/17/24

BOONE, Iowa—The Progressive Grocer recognized Fareway Stores, Inc. Mitch Vetter, Market Retail Business Processes Manager, as a 2024 GenNext Award Recipient, an annual awards program that honors emerging grocery industry leaders.

“Being honored as a GenNext Award Recipient is a milestone,” says Mitch Vetter, Fareway Market Retail Business Processes Manager. “This award has recognized leaders in our industry for many years and it’s humbling to share this award with those individuals.”

Progressive Grocer’s GenNext Awards recognizes those under 40 who are already having a significant impact on their colleagues, companies, and communities, and seem destined for even greater things in the years to come.

Mitch joined Fareway in 2016 and quickly established himself in the company. After earning a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Grand View University in Des Moines in 2017, he began his career as a meat clerk in the meat department. Over the next eighteen months, Mitch worked at two different stores, showcasing his dedication and expertise, which led to his promotion to Market Assistant Manager.

His journey continued as he became a key member of the Retail Sales Team and eventually accepted the role of Market Retail Business Processes Manager in 2022. In this leadership position, Mitch and his team collaborated to develop Fareway Market University, an innovative training program designed to empower employees and help them achieve their professional goals.
