Railroad Historian and Author to Present “The Train Robbery that Shook the Nation!”

BOONE, Iowa—Railroad historian and author Gene C. Stevens will present a free program called The Train Robbery That Shook the Nation on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at
2:00 pm at the James H. Andrew Railroad Museum (Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad)- 225 10th. St. Boone, IA.

Western history Author Gene C. Stevens will present a free Power Point ZOOM program on the infamous James Gang 1873 robbery at Adair, IA of a Rock Island passenger train. Gene will provide little known visual information about this unusual bit of Iowa history.

Gene has studied and reenacted the American Civil War, the Black Hawk war and wild west periods of American history. He is also a member of the John Wayne Birthplace Society, the Western Writers of American History and the founder of the Central States Lawman and Outlaws Historic Association blog. His books include, Red Flag of Defiance, Navy Signalman in Their Own Words, and The Battle of Apple River Fort among others. Be sure to attend this special program either in person or by ZOOM!
