BOONE, Iowa—The Iowa Wild and MARSHALLTOWN participated in the grand opening of the 13th Iowa Wild Community Rink in Boone Tuesday. This is the third year of the program that makes available rinks for communities to enhance outdoor activities during the winter season. The Iowa Wild have been committed to growing the game of hockey in Iowa with the first rink in Raccoon River Park in West Des Moines in 2016. The program now includes rinks in Altoona, Ames, Ankeny, Carlisle, Grinnell, Indianola, Johnston, Marshalltown, Newton, Urbandale, West Des Moines, and Waukee. Boone makes the thirteenth rink and Park Commission Member Susan Thorngren said the department is excited to bring ice skating back to Boone residents at the John Hansen Memorial Skating Rink and Shelter. MARSHALLTOWN is the sponsor for the Iowa Wild’s Community Rink program.

Representatives from Iowa Wild and MARSHALLTOWN joined Mayor Dave Casotti and Park Commissioner Susan Thorngren for the Grand Opening and ribbon cutting.
