Richards wins 2 sprints at conference meet

Paige Richards won 2 West Central Activities Conference championships for the Madrid girls track teams Tuesday, May 6, at Urbandale.

Paige Richards won 2 West Central Activities Conference championships for the Madrid girls track teams Tuesday, May 6, at Urbandale. 

Richards won the 100-meter dash in 12.42 and won the 200-meter dash in 25.91. 

Additionally, Lauren Dvorak won the discus with her throw of 115-07. 

Richards also placed 2nd in the long jump with her jump of 16-06.25 and was 3rd in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.71. 

Dvorak also placed 3rd in the shot put with her throw of 35-00.00 

The Madrid girls finished 5th with 70 points and Van Meter won the meet with 173 points. 

For the boys Brody Buck finished 2nd in the high jump with his jump of 5-10.00. 

The 4×200-meter relay of Loken Velky, Jacob Farrell, Buck and Tyler Sonnenfelt finished 2nd in 1:31.83, and the shuttle hurdle relay of Kinnick Grimm, Easton Halverson, Buck and Will Atkinson also finished 2nd in 1:02.92. 

Sonnenfelt finished 3rd in the 200-meter dash in 22.87. 

The Madrid boys finished 4th with 81.5 points, and Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center was 1st with 137 points.

Madrid will travel to Ogden for a co-ed meet Friday, May 9.
