Robert Bray

BOONE, Iowa—Robert “Bob” Bray, 94, of Boone passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024, at his home.

Bob was born November 21, 1929, in Waukon, IA, the son of Glen and Ruby (Dundee) Bray. He served in the United States Army.

Bob was united in marriage to Rowena Kester on June 14, 1957, in Boone.  They made their home in Boone.

He worked as the caretaker for a number of years for the Boone Y Camp, before retiring.  Bob kept busy after retirement with carpentry work.

Bob enjoyed traveling the Midwest and taking car rides with Rowena, woodworking and being with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rowena in 2019; four brothers, Gordon Bray, Glen Bray, Dale (Mary) Bray and Wayne (Sue) Bray; and sister, Lorraine (Ray) Simon.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Brenda (Gene) McNeely; sister, Fran (Ted) Bass; sister-in-law, Kathy Martin; three brothers-in-law, Randy Kester, Dennis Kester and Louie Valeciano.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM, on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone. The family will greet friends one hour before services at the funeral home.   Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone.  Online condolences may be left to Bob’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com.
