Ronda Patterson

STRATFORD, Iowa—Ronda R. Patterson, 83, of Stratford, passed away on March 20, 2024 at Bethany Life in Story City.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 10:30 AM at the South Marion United Methodist Church, 1392 390th Street, south of Stratford, with Pastor Jim Roth officiating. Burial will be at the South Marion Cemetery.  Visitation with family present, will be held at the Calvary United Methodist Church, 901 Moore Street in Stratford on Monday, March 25 from 4:00-7:00 PM. Visitation on Tuesday will be at the South Marion United Methodist Church from 9:30 AM until time of service.

Ronda Ruth (Bornholt) Patterson was born in Boone, Iowa on July 23, 1940, the daughter of George and Anna Mae (Johnson) Bornholt. Ronda married Burton Patterson on June 12, 1960 at the South Marion United Methodist Church.

Ronda was a true farmer’s wife, she drove tractors, baled hay, walked beans, sorted cows, chased pigs and always made lunch for all the crew. She loved to sew clothes and quilt with the church ladies. She was the best cook and was always baking cookies, cakes and making coffee for anyone that stopped by the farm.  Ronda loved to tend to her large vegetable and flower gardens, and the Patterson pumpkin patch that she and Dad enjoyed for many years during retirement.

Mom loved the color red, her Iowa State Cyclones, the Chicago Cubs, Elvis Presley and, most of all, her beloved family.  She enjoyed special trips with Isaac and Heath, and many vacations with Burton.

Ronda was an active member of the South Marion United Methodist Church, Stratford Food Pantry, Swedish Museum, Swedish Club and Athens Woods Senior Living Board. Besides being a farm wife, Ronda also worked at the Stratford Co-op and at Iowa State University.

Ronda was proceeded in death by her parents, one brother, Bob, and her husband, Burton.

She is survived by son, Nolan Patterson and wife Julie of Stratford; daughter, Natalie Cantwell and husband Matt of Jacksonville, Florida, daughter, Mia Patterson and boyfriend Jeff Wade of Newport Beach, California; two grandsons: Isaac Patterson of Johnston, Iowa, Heath Patterson of Ames, Iowa; and sister, Georgene Hanson and husband Earl, of Dayton, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in Memory of Ronda Patterson.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Ronda’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com.
