Salvation Army Boone Corps Aids in Flood Relief, Seeks Local Support

BOONE, Iowa—All throughout Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota, The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Teams have been on active duty, ever since the flood waters started to rage on March 15th.  To this date, The Salvation Army has given out 9,500 meals, 10,000 bottles of water and over 10,000 snacks to those affected by the flooding.  Lt. James M. Beardsley, the Corps Officer for The Salvation Army of Boone says that their Emergency Canteen has been on deployment to the community of Hornick, IA since Sunday, March 17th.

In response to the great need, The Salvation Army of Boone will be setting up a Flood Relief Donation Center, in order to help those who have been affected.  Those who would like to donate any of the items listed below may bring them to The Salvation Army at 509 Benton Street until Noon on Thursday, March 28th.  The Salvation Army will have an outdoor drop off center from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27th on the corner of Benton and 5th Street.

Items needed include the following: Cleaning Supplies, Shovels, Spray Bottles, Five Gallon Buckets, Mops & Brooms, Face Masks, Large Heavy Duty Garbage Bags, Floor Squeegees, Long Rubber Gloves, Wading Boots, Box Fans, Laundry Soap, Scrub Brushes, Bleach, Disinfectant, Diapers and Baby Formula.  The Salvation Army asks that donated items should be unused and new.
