Salvation Army & Walmart Hold Inaugural Angel Tree Toy Drive

KWBG 11/05/19

BOONE, Iowa—The Salvation Army of Boone, in partnership with the Boone Walmart Super Center, is announcing its NEW First Annual Angel Tree Toy Drive.  This Toy Drive will be held this Saturday, November 9th from 10: 00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  The Salvation Army of Boone will be at Walmart with it’s Angel Tree Tags. The public is urged to come by on Saturday, pick up an angel tree tag and shop for a child in need of Christmas Toys.

Lt. James Beardsley says, “We are very excited to begin our new Angel Tree Toy Drive.”  He said “Every Angel Tree Tag is designated for a specific and real child in Boone. The gifts & clothes donated for that child will go directly to that child.”

Last year The Salvation Army served over 200 children through it’s Angel Tree Toy Program.  Lt. Beardsley mentioned that the Angel Tree Program allows the community to have a more personal and direct impact on the youth.  He said “If the tag says Joey, the gifts will go to that youth named Joey.”

Beardsley also says additional Angel Tree Tags will be available around the community throughout the Christmas
season.  More information on where to pick up Angel Tree Tags after November 9th will be released
soon.

For more information on the Angel Tree Program, you may call The Salvation Army at (515) 432 57 70 or stop in their office at 509 Benton Street.
