Sandra Myers

KWBG 02/11/25

BOONE, Iowa—Sandra Lou (Scofield) Myers, age 79, passed away on February 9, 2025. She passed peacefully at home with her husband Loren, her cat Thelma Louise, and thousands of her cherished Teddy Bears at her side. She wouldn’t have it any other way.

A visitation will be held at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone, IA, at 1:00PM on Thursday, February 13, 2025. A funeral service to honor Sandi will immediately follow at 2:00PM with Rev. Adam Gordon officiating.

Sandi was born on June 17, 1945, in Boone. Her family then moved to Ogallala, NE, where she graduated High School in 1963. After moving back to Boone, she met and married Dally Buck, Jr. to raise their family. She was always up for a visit, willing to host on the holidays, and in her early days you would find her at a ballfield, either playing or cheering, or at the bowling alley giving the finger to the stubborn 10-pin. When that was over, she would head home to watch some Atlanta Braves baseball, drink a Rum and Diet-Coke, and enjoy a late-night game of cards with many of her closest friends, all while eating a brownie or two.

After her divorce, she attended and graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Sociology. She met Loren Myers, of Boone in 1996 and lived out her days with him at her side. Finally coming around to watching Chicago Cubs baseball, she also began to collect Teddy Bears of all types. To say she had a love of teddy bears would be an understatement. She was blessed to have Loren care for her until her last breath as she battled various health issues through the years. Much like Edith and Archie, their patience was thin, but their love was ever apparent. Again, she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Sandi was preceded in death by her parents Aaron and Violet Scofield; two brothers, Kenny and Ervin Scofield; niece, Lori Scofield-Musser; her great-nephew, Tristan Torres, and many, many cats and dogs; all of whom, we’re certain, welcomed her with open arms and paws.

Sandi is survived by her husband of 27 years, Loren of Boone; brother, Marvin of Ogallala; sons, the three Buck Brothers, Aaron (Melissa) Buck, Omaha, NE, Kelly (Kim) Buck, Boone, and Dallas (Mindy) Buck, Boone. She was also blessed with three stepchildren, Chris (Pam) Myers, Boone, Rachel (Milton) Cordova, Des Moines, IA and Karen (Kurt) Rosengreen, Spirit Lake, IA; grandchildren, Will (Amber) Ballard, Joe Buchanan, Tyler (Anna) Buck, Christian (CJ) Buck, Jade Myers, Jordan McDowell, Dylan McDowell, Mikayla McDowell, Gracie Rosengreen, Cohen Rosengreen; many nieces, nephews, and their children; and most recently a great-granddaughter, Ingrid Mae Colburn-Buck of Chattanooga, TN.

SANDI LOVED TO USE CAPS LOCK!

Sandi’s wishes were to be cremated, following the funeral, and have her remains shared between her parents in Ogallala and her grandparents in Boone. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, friends and all who had the privilege to know her.

The family would ask that in lieu of flowers, please consider sending donations to Stand Up To Cancer www.standuptocancer.org or the Boone Area Humane Society https://bahs.us in her memory.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Sandi’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com

Next: Dr. Julie Trepa, Superintendent, Boone Community School District. Trepa talks about the Boone School Board meeting. First we talked about absenteeism and attendance due to illness. She says absenteeism is up due to illness. She also encourages parents not to send sick children to school. She talked about next year’s school calendar. The Board adopted it Monday. There are no more early outs on Wednesday’s in the 25-26 school year. She also talks about the budget work the Board will be addressing, noting that 2% increases in funding from the state can’t keep up 3% and 4% increases in the cost operating. Aired Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
