DES MOINES, Iowa—Senator Jesse Green (R-Boone), Senator Kerry Gruenhagen (R-Walcott) and Senator Lynn Evans (R-Aurelia) sent a letter to Auditor Rob Sand today calling on him to conduct an audit on the Des Moines Public Schools (DMPS) in light of the ongoing situation with former Superintendent Ian Roberts.
“Rob Sand has always taken an interest in education savings accounts and the costs of that program, but the budget of the Des Moines Public Schools is even bigger,” said Senator Green. “With the news consistently coming out regarding Ian Roberts and the ways he misled students, parents, teachers and the Des Moines Public Schools community, we believe it is important the auditor take the time to actually do his job and ensure the hundreds of millions of dollars taxpayers invest into education in DMPS is properly accounted.”
