BOONE, Iowa—Early morning showers and thunderstorms passed through Boone, but moved away with clearing skies for the 2026 Memorial Day Ceremony held at the G.A.R. Plot, Linwood Park Cemetery, Boone. The local ceremony, organized by the Boone Veterans Council, featured the reading of General Logan’s Order by a member of Boy Scout Troop 132, the Laying of the Wreaths by the VFW Auxiliary, Daughters of the American Revolution, and American Legion Auxiliary. The guest speaker this year was Master Sergeant Shawn Bryant (Retired). Pleasant weather allowed a number of community members to attend the ceremony in person.
