Skare Officially Announces Retirement

BOONE, Iowa—Boone City Administrator Bill Skare announced to the Boone City Council Monday that he will be retiring at the end of the fiscal year. Skare has spent 35 years in various positions in Boone, the most recent as City Administrator. He’s been the Boone Public Safety Director and Boone Police Chief. He started his career in Boone as a Boone Police Officer.

Boone Mayor Eli Stines says there are search firms that have expertise in assisting city’s in finding administrative staff and he will be seeking proposals from those firms find out which will best fill the needs for Boone. Once a firm is identified, they will work with Council and staff to find candidates for the city. Stines says he hopes that will be able to identify their candidate within the next couple of months.
