BOONE, Iowa—Boone Mayor John Slight held off a challenge by Boone Council Member Holly Stecker in Tuesday’s city election. Slight picked up 1,310 votes to 854 for Stecker.
Stecker’s seat on the council was filled by Linda Williamson who defeated Annie Wallert 1,008 votes to 911. In the First Ward, David Byrd was unopposed and received 288 votes. In the contested Third Ward, incumbent Elijah Stines outpolled challenger Todd Rasmussen 312 to 277 votes. In the Fifth Ward, Council Member Greg Piklapp did not seek re-election. His seat will be fill by Cole Hilpipre who picked up 204 votes over Scott Zeitler with 155.
The results are unofficial until they are canvased by the Boone County Supervisors next week.
