Suspect in Custody Following Stand-off and Fire

KWBG 05/01/23

BOONE, Iowa—A stand-off led to a house fire and Boone Police have one person in custody. Administrative Commander John Sloter released this statement from the Boone Police Department:

On May 1, 2023 at approximately 2:43 pm., Boone Police Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of College Street. It was believed that the subject of a No Contact Order was on scene in violation of the order. When officers arrived on scene it was determined that the subject was on scene and was refusing to leave the residence. It was also learned that the subject was the only person at the residence at this time. With the assistance of the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol, the residence was secured and contact was made with the subject inside the residence. The subject was identified as 45 year old Michael Glynn.

Attempts were made to talk to Glynn in an effort to get him to exit the residence which he refused to
do. As the call progressed, a fire was started inside the residence which eventually spread to the entire
structure. The Boone Fire Department and the Boone County Ambulance were called and were staged
to respond once it was safe to do so. The Iowa State Patrol Tactical Team also responded to assist as
did an investigator from the State Fire Marshall’s Office.

At approximately 4:44 pm., Glynn ran from the residence and was taken into custody. He was transported to the Boone County Hospital. Charges are pending at this time.

An arrest or the filing of charges is not an indication of guilt.
