The Toreador cross country teams competed at the Raccoon River Conference Cross Country Meet at Lakeview Country Club in Winterset on Tuesday, October 15.
Boone girls placed 7th with 185 points while the boys placed 8th with 236 points.
Gilbert came away with two victories and won the girls race with 54 points and the boys race with 19 points.
Teams competing were Gilbert, Winterset, North Polk, Adel-De Soto-Minburn, Ballard, Bondurant-Farrar, Boone and Carlisle.
Emma Thomas continued to lead the Toreador girls with a 13th place finish in 20:46.53
Morgan Chesnut was 35th in 22:52.07, and Lynneah Pickering placed 38th in 22:58.15.
Bry Morgan finished 47th in 23:29.33, and Poppy Malone placed 52nd in 25:09.30.
For the boys, Blake Gradoville was the top Boone finisher in 35th place in 18:20.87.
Calvin Cook placed 44th in 19:03.38, and Dorian Myers was 50th in 19:50.82.
Pearson Lampe finished 53rd in 20:20.65, and Kam Lehman was 54th in 20:21.59.
The Toreadors will run at the Class 3A Iowa High School Cross Country State Qualifying Meet at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23.
Boone travels to Gilbert and will compete against Algona, Atlantic, Ballard, Creston, Gilbert, Humboldt, Kuemper Catholic (Carroll), MOC-Floyd Valley, Nevada, Perry, Sioux Center and Storm Lake.
Thomas qualified for the state meet last year as a freshman and looks to make a return this fall.
