Three Hospitalized Following Saturday Accident near Pilot Mound

BOONE, Iowa—Three people involved in a two vehicle accident, late Saturday afternoon near Pilot Mound were reportedly flown to hospitals in Des Moines and Iowa City as a result of injuries sustained in the accident. The Iowa State Patrol has released a crash report of the accident, which remains under investigation.

The report says that about 5:20 p.m. Saturday, a Chevrolet Equinox, driven by 17 year old Dylan Joseph Herout of Omaha, Nebraska was traveling north on “H” Avenue in Boone County, approaching 130th Street. Herout entered the intersection at 130th Street and was struck by a west bound Chevrolet Silverado K1500 being driven by 59 year old Robbie Thomas Schreier of Fort Dodge, Iowa.

The crash report indicates that Herout was taken by Life Flight to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. A passenger, 18 year old Britney Alexis Samples of Omaha, Nebraska was taken by Life Flight to Iowa City. Schreier was reportedly flown by Life Flight to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. The report shows that Herout was not wearing a seat belt while Samples and Schreier were using seatbelts.

The State Patrol was assisted at the scene by multiple agencies, including the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.
