
BOONE, Iowa—Boone Police investigated a Tuesday morning accident in the 1400 area of 220th Street, U-S Highway 30. The accident was reported right after 8:00. According to the report from the investigating officer the incident actually began in the 1200 area of 220th Street, right east of the Des Moines River Bridge. A vehicle, operated by 47 year old Shawn Brandon of Madrid unintentionally cut off a car operated by 17 year old Sami Jo Ponxs of Ankeny. According to the report, Ponxs then passed Brandon and did a brake check. Brandon passed Ponxs only to be passed a second time and brake checked a second time. Eventually, the rear of Ponxs vehicle struck the front of Brandon’s vehicle, both entered the median. Both vehicles had sustained damage. A passenger in the Ponxs car, 17 year old Joshua Sparks of Jefferson was transported to the hospital to be checked for injuries.
Police cited Ponxs with operating her vehicle recklessly. She was cited for improper lane changes. Brandon was cited with failure to have proof of insurance and driving under suspension.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Department, Boone Fire and Rescue and Boone County Ambulance assisted Police at the scene.
