Wallace Loudon

KWBG 10/04/22

BOONE, Iowa—Even though his language would sometimes be a little “salty”, Wally was a kind and very caring individual who was put on this earth for a reason. He was able to save his nephew Rob from a raging barn fire. While driving down a country road, he came upon a man in a field trapped in a corn picker. Wally was able to free what was left of the man’s arm, and get him to a medical facility. He was a levelheaded thinker yet was not one to command the conversation.

Wallace Edwin Loudon (Wally) was born on August 24, 1930, at home in rural College Springs, Iowa, to Ralph and Lucille (Paisley) Loudon. He grew up and received his education in Mount Ayr and Diagonal. He married Gladys Gibson in 1949 and had one daughter, Marilyn.

His love was for the outdoors. After farming same in Diagonal, he moved to Boone where he worked in a greenhouse several years before driving trucks for the DOT of Iowa. Between working schedules he put jillions of miles on a camper of one kind or another, giving that up at 86 years of age.

Wally died on October 2, 2022 due to injuries sustained in a fall.

Preceding him in death were his parents, siblings, Lawrence Loudon and Shirley Sobotka, his beloved daughter, Marilyn Sparks Arndorfer, in May of 2020, grandson, Cory Sparks, in December of 2020, nephews, Rob, Dean, and Boyd, niece, Sharon, as well as his furry buddy Punkin.

He is survived by his grandson, Todd (Stacy) Sparks of Maple Grove, MN; great-grandson, Noah Sparks of Clear Lake, IA; son-in-law, Tom Arndorfer of Clear Lake, IA; step-daughter, Dawn Molle of Boone, IA, and his companion, Mary Wirtz of Boone, IA.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Bass Point Cemetery north of Boone, with Pastor Adam Gordon officiating. A reception for a time of lunch and fellowship will take place at the First United Methodist Church in Boone following the graveside service at Bass Point Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Boone Area Humane Society.

Online condolences can be left at www.schroederfuneral.com

Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home, 609 7th Street, Boone, is assisting the family with these arrangements.
