Criminal charges and public safety incidents from 1‑5‑25 to 1‑9‑26

Violent & Serious Felony Offenses

  • Juan Anthony Davila Moore, 23, Ames – Jury verdicts of guilty to Robbery 1st Degree and Kidnapping 2nd Degree (Class B Felonies). Sentenced to 50 years in prison with a 35‑year mandatory minimum. Case involved the beating, armed kidnapping, and abandonment of a Muscatine man in Boone (Jan. 2025). Investigated by Boone Police.
  • Adrian Wayne Conine, 38, Ames – Guilty plea to Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd (Class D Felony, Habitual Offender) and Interference with Official Acts Resulting in Bodily Injury (Serious Misdemeanor). Sentenced to 15 years in prison with a 3‑year mandatory minimum. Investigated by Boone Police.

Domestic Assault

  • Kayle Alyona Russell, 32, Boone – Guilty plea to Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Bodily Injury (Serious Misdemeanor). Sentenced to 30 days in jail with all but 2 days suspended, plus probation and batterer’s education. Investigated by Boone Police.

Child Endangerment

  • Scott Allen Murray, 54, Ames – Guilty plea to Child Endangerment (Aggravated Misdemeanor). Received a 2‑year suspended prison sentence and probation with anger‑management requirements. Investigated by Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

Harassment & Threat‑Related Offenses

  • Daniel Ryan Schuelzky, 38, Waukee – Guilty plea to Harassment 2nd (Serious Misdemeanor). Sentenced to 1 year in jail with all but 17 days suspended, plus probation and mental‑health treatment. Investigated by Boone Police.

OWI & Driving Offenses

  • Amy Marie Tasler, 46, Grand Junction – Guilty plea to OWI 1st (Serious Misdemeanor). Sentenced to 7 days in jail, substance‑abuse evaluation, drinking‑driver course, and fines. Investigated by Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Francisco Hernandez Hernandez, 23, Ames – Guilty plea to OWI 1st (Serious Misdemeanor). Sentenced to 2 days in jail, substance‑abuse evaluation, drinking‑driver course, and fines. Investigated by Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Tatem Jo Rees, 25, Madrid – Guilty plea to Operating Without Owner’s Consent (Aggravated Misdemeanor). Sentenced to fines and fees. Investigated by Madrid Police.

Property Damage & Criminal Mischief

  • John Joseph Leon, 27, Estherville – Guilty plea to Criminal Mischief 4th (Serious Misdemeanor). Sentenced to fines and fees. Investigated by Boone Police.

Public Intoxication & Disorderly Conduct

  • Trevor Dean Lane, 18, Madrid – Guilty plea to Disorderly Conduct (Simple Misdemeanor). Sentenced to fines and fees. Investigated by Madrid Police.
  • Adam Scott Trent, 51, Boone – Guilty plea to Public Intoxication (Simple Misdemeanor). Sentenced to fines and fees. Investigated by Boone Police.
  • Michael Andrew Racine, 60, Boone – Guilty plea to Public Intoxication (Simple Misdemeanor). Sentenced to fines and fees. Investigated by Boone Police.

Nature of Incidents Reported

This reporting period included two major felony convictions involving robbery, kidnapping, and habitual‑offender drug charges. Several misdemeanor cases were resolved, including domestic assault, harassment, child endangerment, OWI offenses, and public intoxication. Additional cases involved criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, and unauthorized vehicle use.
