DES MOINES, Iowa—The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship weekly fuel report shows prices continue their climb in the new year. Natural gas prices rose 10 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site and is currently priced at $2.79/MMbtu.
Crude Oil Summary
- The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $3.91 per barrel over last week, and is currently priced at $56.13.
- Brent crude oil rose $3.17 and is currently priced at $58.76.
- One year ago, WTI crude sold for $50.11 and Brent crude was priced at $54.00.
Motor Fuels
- As of Wednesday, Feb. 3, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.34 across Iowa according to AAA.
- Prices were up 1 cent from last week’s price and is 9 cents higher than one year ago.
- The national average on Wednesday was $2.43, up 2 cents from last week’s price.
- Retail diesel prices in Iowa rose 2 cents this week with a statewide average of $2.53.
- One year ago, diesel prices averaged $2.76 in Iowa.
- The current Iowa diesel price is 13 cents less than the national average of $2.66.
- Wholesale ethanol rose 11 cents, and is currently priced at $1.64.
- The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $1.57 for U87-E10, $1.76 for Unleaded 87 (clear), ULSD#2 is at $1.76, ULSD#1 is at $1.87, and E-70 priced at $1.69 per gallon.
Heating Fuels
- Propane prices were down 2 cents with a statewide average of $1.46 per gallon.
- Home heating oil rose 3 cents from last week, ending with a statewide average of $2.17 per gallon.
- Natural gas prices rose 10 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site and is currently priced at $2.79/MMbtu.
