- The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $8.08 per barrel over last week, currently priced at $116.57.
- Brent crude oil rose $9.32 and currently priced at $119.75.
- One year ago, WTI crude sold for $64.01 and Brent crude was at $67.03.
Motor Fuels
- As of Wednesday, March 9, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.89 across Iowa according to AAA.
- Prices rose 46 cents from last week’s price and $1.12 higher than one year ago.
- The national average on Wednesday was $4.25, up 57 cents from last week’s price.
- Retail diesel prices in Iowa were up 75 cents this week with a statewide average of $4.57.
- One year ago, diesel prices averaged $3.05 in Iowa.
- The current Iowa diesel price is 31 cents less than the national average of $4.88.
- Wholesale ethanol held steady and is currently priced at $2.16.
- The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $3.18 for U87-E10, $3.53 for Unleaded 87 (clear), $4.32 for ULSD#2, $4.49 for ULSD#1, and $2.83 per gallon for E-70 prices.
Heating Fuels
- Propane prices were up $.11 with a statewide average of $2.14 per gallon.
- Home heating oil prices rose $.72, with a statewide average of $4.11 per gallon.
- Natural gas prices fell $.25 at the Henry Hub reporting site and are currently priced at $4.52/MMbtu.
