DES MOINES, Iowa—The Des Moines National Weather Service has issued an updated Winter Weather Advisory for this afternoon until 1:00 a.m. and it does include Boone County.

...Quick shot of snow to impact afternoon and evening travel...

.A fast moving system will continue to produce snow across many
parts of northern, central, and eastern Iowa this afternoon and
evening. Winds will also increase, especially for areas west of
Highway 169. The combination of winds and falling snow should
create significant reduced visibility, especially in rural areas.
Snowfall of 1 to 3 inches is generally expected, but isolated
higher amounts are possible.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM CST SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches
  with slightly higher amounts possible in a few spots possible.
  Winds gusting 30 mph or greater may cause significant reduction
  in visibility.

* WHERE...Parts of central Iowa.

* WHEN...Until 1 AM CST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions that will create a
  slower than normal afternoon and evening commute. Allow
  yourself more time to reach your destination.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions that will
  create a slower than normal afternoon and evening commute,
  especially on untreated roadways. Allow more time to reach your
  destination.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Slow down and use caution while traveling.
