Winter Weather Advisory Remains in Place for Boone County

BOONE, Iowa—The National Weather Service has kept a Winter Weather Advisory in Place for KWBG listeners for Tuesday.

...A Wintry Mix of Precipitation Tonight Into Tuesday Night...

.A winter storm system will bring a mixture of freezing drizzle,
freezing rain, snow, and wind to the state. The heaviest snow
along with a glaze of ice is expected over northern Iowa while
over the central Iowa a mixture of snow and ice is anticipated.
Hazardous travel is expected over much of the state starting later
tonight and will persist into Tuesday night.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT
TONIGHT TO MIDNIGHT CST TUESDAY NIGHT...

* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected with freezing drizzle
  developing late tonight then transitioning to a wintry mix
  Tuesday. Far southern portions of the area may transition to all
  rain for a period Tuesday before a transition back to wintry
  precipitation. Total snow accumulations of up to 6 inches north
  of Highway 20; 3-5 inches along and south of Highway 20 to
  around Highway 30 with around 2 inches along Interstate 80. Ice
  accumulations over one tenth of an inch may occur.

* WHERE...Portions of southwest, central, and northern Iowa.

* WHEN...From midnight tonight to midnight CST Tuesday night.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy
  blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The
  hazardous conditions could impact travel starting later
  tonight into Tuesday night.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Expect slippery
roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
