This is the first time since 2010 that at least 3/4 of Iowa’s corn crop has been in the ground by May 3. Through May 3rd, Iowa farmers had 75% of corn and 46% of beans in the soil.

Council Lifts Suspension on Open Burning in Boone

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone City Council has voted to lift a suspension on the open burning of yard waste.  The Council voted during Monday’s meeting, 5-2 to lift the suspension and actually extend open burning through Sunday, May 17th.  The current guidelines in the ordinance will apply and can be found here.
