Increased Law Enforcement Presence to Continue Labor Day Weekend

KWBG 08/31/18

BOONE, Iowa—The Labor Day Holiday weekend will see increased attention by law enforcement.  The Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau has several agencies participating with increased enforcement which actually began August 17th.  According to information released by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau and participating law enforcement agencies, there were 10 fatalities in 2017 over the three-day Labor Day weekend.  Four were alcohol related. The increased enforcement will continue through September 3rd according to Officer Mike Frazier with the Boone Police Department.

Locally, there’s been an increase in the law enforcement presence for traffic control purposes needed for the Farm Progress Show.  The Labor Day Weekend will also feature the first home football game for Iowa State Cyclones, the Madrid Labor Day Celebration and the Dayton Rodeo. Meanwhile, in Boone, traffic will be on the increase with the arrival of participants and fans of the IMCA SuperNationals at the Boone Speedway.

KWBG encourages everyone to have a safe Labor Day Holiday.
