Polk City Man Charged Following Investigation Into Fatal Accident

KWBG 09/20/18

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Sheriff’s Department and the Iowa State Patrol have concluded their joint investigation into a fatal traffic accident that occurred south of Ogden on Highway 169 at the junction of Boone County Road E-57.  The accident occurred on June 9, 2018 just after 11:30 p.m.  Two vehicles collided at the intersection, one operated by 27 year old Phillip Fleming of Nevada, Iowa.  Fleming was seriously injured in the accident and his passenger, 26 year old Alyssa August also of Nevada,  died at the scene as a result of her injuries.  At the time, authorities indicated that August was not wearing a seatbelt.  The second vehicle was operated by 24 year old Jordan Ihle of Polk City.  In June, authorities had said Ihle had failed to stop at a stop sign.  Last Friday, Ihle was arrested and charged with Homicide by Vehicle-Operating Under the Influence, Homicide by Vehicle-Reckless Driving and Serious Injury by Vehicle.  Ihle was taken to the Boone County Jail and was held on $500,000 cash only bond.
