Posted on 02 April 2019 by KWBG

ANKENY, Iowa—Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) President Rob Denson has been presented a Partnership Award plaque for his support of the educational partnership between the Republic of Kosovo and DMACC.  Years ago, DMACC and the Minster of Education, Science and Technology for the Republic of Kosovo signed a Memorandum of Partnership to bring DMACC’s best practices and academic infrastructure for vocational and technical careers to that nation. Last May, DMACC President Rob Denson and others from Iowa took part in a delegation touring Kosovo exploring trade and educational opportunities between Iowa and Kosovo.  In February, Denson and Petrit Selimi, the CEO of the Millennium Foundation Kosovo, announced the Women in Energy Scholarship program, with a grant of up to $1,000,000 to train a new generation of women leaders at DMACC for Kosovo’s expanding energy sector. In addition, Kosovo is also retaining DMACC to develop a vocational training center in Kosovo to create more skilled workers for their businesses. Denson will be traveling again to Kosovo in May.
