BOONE, Iowa—Walmart in Boone and the Salvation Army Boone Corps teamed up earlier this month to collect school supplies for distribution to students. Lt. James Beardsley, Corps Officer for the Salvation Army in Boone, says a big “Thank You” needs to go to the community for supporting this first time event. He had said earlier it was part of the nationwide collaboration between Walmart and the Salvation Army.
Beardsley released this statement. The Salvation Army would like to extend a gracious thank you to the community of Boone for its support during the Walmart & The Salvation Army’s Stuff the Bus campaign on Saturday, August 3rd . Thanks to the generous support of the community over 1,000 school supplies was donated that day to The Salvation Army of Boone.
We were overwhelmed by the support our community gave during this wonderful event ” said Lt. James Beardsley, the Corps Officer for The Salvation Army of Boone. We are also very grateful for the support Walmart has given The Salvation Army, locally and nationally, with this great event.
Distribution of school supplies will take place at The Salvation Army s office location at 509 Benton Street from Monday, August 12th to Friday, August 23rd ; 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Families wishing to receive help with school supplies must provide verification of guardianship (i.e. Birth Certificates,
Medicaid Card, etc) to apply for School Supply assistance. Supplies are limited and are available on a
first come first serve basis. For questions or more information on the School Supplies Distribution
